Happy Families invites you to an incredible event – a Virtual Dinner uniting everyone all over the world– without having to leave your home! Try a new recipe and win the special prizes!

Everyone loves going out for dinner, but we are asking you to stay home one night and dedicate your dinner to children in need. It could be a family dinner, gathering all relatives over new recipes or a pot-luck dinner amongst friends, where everyone chips in and prepares one of the recipes. This is a wonderful opportunity to get together and win the prizes, by participating in a great cause.

Four easy steps-

Donate $50 via the button above and send us your most favorite simple dinner recipe to info@happyfamilies.org by April 28, 2013.
On May 6th we will send everyone a compilation of all the received recipes.
By May 12th – send us the recipe you selected.
On May 17th and 18th we will host our Virtual Dinner on Facebook, where everyone can share what they are going to prepare. If you cannot participate in the dinner on this day, just send us the recipe you chose and you still can win!

The three people, whose recipes will be selected the most – will be our winners! The first prize is a dinner for four in your area in a restaurant, which will be chosen by a restaurant guru with a surprise gift certificate! The second and third prizes are dinners for two and surprise gift certificates!

The lucky winners will be announced on May 18th at 8 pm eastern time!

This Virtual Dinner will support orphaned children with special needs through the “I Want to Walk” program. There are many children in orphanages in Russia, who need our help. Svetlana

Svetlana, a six year old girl with one missing leg, just arrived at the Dallas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children for possible surgery and a new prosthetic. She has already undergone several surgeries in the past in Moscow. Due to abnormal bone growth in the remaining part of her amputated leg, the prosthetic did not fit well.

The prosthetic she currently has is very heavy and uncomfortable. Once in Russia, Svetlana’s prosthetic leg was stuck in a doorway and since it did not fit well, it came off. The man who happened to be there nearly fainted thinking that he somehow was involved. Luckily, the man was saved and Svetlana is now here to get a good quality prosthetic in order to walk well.

Update June 2011
Svetlana returned to Moscow in May 2011 on her new prosthetic. She is WALKING, running and enjoying her freedom of motion!

Update April 2013
Svetlana needs a new prosthetic. She has been growing a lot during the last two years and her prosthetic became too small. It is hard for Svetlana to walk now. We hope to bring her back soon to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for children and give her a chance to walk with joy again.

I would like to invite you to a private event – the closing of the
photo exhibition “Life in Motion” on March 12, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the
International Center of Photography (ICP), Rita K. Hillman Education
Gallery, 1114 Avenue of the Americas at 43rd Street, New York. Please join us for this special event. In a casual atmosphere, you
can meet the world renowned photographer Ed Kashi and his great
team, listen to their incredible experiences while working in Russia and
feel the power of their photo images. Have a toast for the success
of the mission at this intimate reception that follows the closing.

Children are very welcome. They will have a chance to write their
wishes for the orphaned children under each photo of those who participated
in the Life in Motion project.

The photographs are available for purchase, and all the funds will go to support the
children in need.
